Landlubbers joke that sailors always want to head off to the
ends of the earth, but Chris Santella takes that
life-changing desire very seriously. In this, the third
installment in his immensely successful Fifty Places series,
Santella assembles a crew of the world's greatest
championship racers and professional adventurers and
persuades them to disclose their favorite destinations
around the globe. Coastlines around the world--even
Antarctica and the Arctic--are represented, and the chosen
spots include some spectacular inland waters. |

Shorty:
A Life in Sports, by David H. White, is the story of Alabama
high school football coaching legend George “Shorty” White.
Perhaps the best known high school
coach in the state, he led Birmingham’s Banks High School Jets from
1961 until 1974, winning three state titles before moving on to the
University of Alabama to coach under Paul “Bear” Bryant.
Shorty White was coaching at Bama
when the Crimson Tide won national football championships in 1978
and 1979. |
